Top 5 best selling records of 2017

Usually, these lists are made at the end of a year, but I figured everyone is being bombarded with lists already, so I postponed my list a little.

2017 was a record-year (pun very much intended) for Funky Moose Records. Here is a top 5 of the best selling records of 2017 by units sold:

5: Guardians Of The Galaxy Deluxe Vinyl Edition

is the soundtrack album for the Marvel Studios film Guardians of the Galaxy. Featuring the songs present on Peter Quill's mixtape in the film, the album was released by Hollywood Records on July 29, 2014. A separate film score album, Guardians of the Galaxy (Original Score), composed by Tyler Bates, was also released by Hollywood Records on the same date, along with a deluxe version featuring both albums. The soundtrack album reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first soundtrack album in history consisting entirely of previously released songs to top the chart.

4: Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits

is a 1988 compilation album by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac. It covers the period of the band's greatest commercial success, from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s.

3: The Tragically Hip - Fully Completely

is the third studio album by Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip. The album was released in October 1992 and produced by Chris Tsangarides. The cover art was designed by Dutch artist Lieve Prins. It produced six singles: "Locked in the Trunk of a Car", "Fifty Mission Cap", "Courage (For Hugh MacLennan)", "At the Hundredth Meridian", "Looking for a Place to Happen", and "Fully Completely".

2: Metallica - Master Of Puppets

is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released on March 3, 1986 by Elektra Records.[ Recorded at the Sweet Silence Studios with producer Flemming Rasmussen, it was the first Metallica album released on a major record label. Master of Puppets was the band's last album to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a bus accident in Sweden during the album's promotional tour. The album peaked at number 29 on the Billboard 200 and became the first thrash metal album to be certified platinum. It was certified 6× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2003 for shipping six million copies in the United States. The album was eventually certified 6× platinum by Music Canada and gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

1: Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon

is the eighth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 1 March 1973 by Harvest Records. The album built on ideas explored in earlier recordings and live shows, but lacks the extended instrumental excursions that characterised their earlier work. Its themes explore conflict, greed, the passage of time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by the deteriorating mental state of founding member and principal contributor, Syd Barrett.

There you have it. The be best selling vinyl records of 2017. Notably, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours is not listed this year. I assume this has everything to do with Warner's price-hike at the end of 2016.

Next week, I'll post a list of the top 5 best selling accessories!

What do you think? Do you have any of these albums? Are you thinking of getting them? Let us know in the comments below!
