Teaser for Beastie Boys documentary is out

Spike Jonze shared a teaser for his documentary about Beastie Boys.

Beastie Boys

The teaser features an opening from Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz's spitting Beastie's song "Paul Revere" (“Now here’s a little story I’ve got to tell/About three bad brothers you know so well”) as Adam “MCA” Yauch and Michael “Mike D” Diamond sit next to him on the couch. Then we get flashes of the group's archival footage but camera but lingers on old photos of the late Adam “MCA” Yauch.

Beastie Boys Story is a Spike Jonze-directed documentary that came about after bands prior collaboration with Spike on Beastie Boys Book, an archival project, a memoir that paid tribute to the late member of the group, Adam “MCA” Yauch.

As Rolling Stone writes, live bits of the documentary were taken from the show that Diamond and Horovitz performed at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn. The show was also directed by Spike Jonze and included Q&A segments, readings, and guest moderators.

“There are some friends you have lunch with so many times over the years, you know their order,” Diamond and Horovitz recently said in a statement. “Spike is one of those friends. And even when you don’t recognize anything on the menu, he comes up with something good for the whole table. Like when we wondered what to do when our book comes out … then Spike placed his order: ‘You will put on a show for the children.’ “

The documentary will hit IMAX on April 3rd, after some time it will be only available for streaming on Apple+ on April 24th.
