Ambulances were called to the house they shared in Chiswick, West London just before 10 in the morning due to reports that someone in the house was feeling unwell. Medical crews took Bowden off to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Bowden was 58. No other details were released regarding the cause of death.
Bowden was Dickinson’s second wife and the two were married for 29 years. They had three children together, Austin, 29, Griffin, 27 and daughter Kia, 28. The couple quietly parted ways in 2018 resulting in a divorce estimated at about $90 million.
It is said that the divorce was due to Dickinson’s affair with fitness, teacher, journalist, fashion blogger and Iron Maiden super fan Leana Dolci. Dolci had been following the band on tour for nearly ten years. The 61 year old singer reportedly moved out of their marital home to live with Dolci in France. Dolci is allegedly in her 40’s.
Dickinson released the following statements regarding his estranged wife’s death. “This is a terrible tragedy which appears to be a tragic accident. Our children Austin, Griffin and Kia are devastated. Out of respect for Paddy we won’t be making any further comment at this hugely difficult and painful time for our family.”
Son Austin had this to say, “My mum has tragically passed away. I haven’t even got the words to say right now and I ask for privacy and respect for myself and our family.”
Fans also chimed in with their support via social media. One fan wrote, “RIP Paddy Bowden. Thinking of you, Bruce and family at this sad time.”
Another wrote, “RIP Paddy Bowden. What a wonderful mother she must have been to bring us such talented children. Love to her nearest and dearest.
It seems as if Dickinson’s life has been filled with turmoil over the last few years. In 2015, he was diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer after doctor’s discovered two tumors on his tongue. Bowden nursed him to health through his chemotherapy and radiation sessions and within 6 months, he was given the all clear.
He later went on to write a book chronicling his battle with cancer as well as highlights from his music career called “What Does This Button Do?”
Currently Dickinson is still active in Iron Maiden. However, like so many bands, they have had to postpone dates due to the coronavirus. They are hoping to get back out there in 2021.
Bowden’s death is quite tragic and we wish her family the best during this difficult time.
