Gorillaz tease new material

Gorillaz are definitely up to something!

Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s animated band has shared a new teaser for a mysterious new project titled Gorillaz present Song Machine.

It’s not exactly clear what are they teasing. It might be a follow up to their 2019 album The Now Now, or it might be the long-awaited Gorillaz cartoon. An accompanying listing on Spotify refers to the project as "Season One“ and instructs fans to "Follow the next episode“.

The animated teaser includes a 20-second long audio snippet titled "Theme Song“, so new music is definitely part of the deal, whatever the project is.

In addition to the video, Gorillaz have posted what appears to be the artwork for the "Song Machine“ with a caption: "Follow your nearest Song Machine! (snooze you lose)“.

That is not all, as Consequence of Sound writes, a new single is also coming out this week. It is supposed to feature Slaves and slowthai.

For the last couple of years the band was pretty active, before the incoming project they have released The Now Now in 2019 and The Humanz in 2018. There is also a documentary on making of these two albums titled Gorillaz: Reject False Icons, which came out in December 2019.
